What does your role encompass?
Working with client data to transform it into actionable insight for the team to work with.
What do you enjoy most about working at Ebit?
I’ve enjoyed the exposure to different datasets in the first three weeks; the variation is interesting to me. The team are also really lovely, which helps make the transition into a new role much easier!
What does your average workday look like?
I always aim to start the workday with some form of exercise, normally running or some weights, as this gets me in a good frame of mind for the rest of the day. After getting a coffee drink on board I will check emails and respond where necessary. Following this it is into the tasks for the day. The beauty of the work I have done so far at Ebit is that it’s varied and as such there’s no real ‘average’ day. Tasks I will complete on projects include data cleaning and preparation, data transformation and then finally data analysis and presentation.
What is there that procurement has to deal with that you want to help fix?
I think that on the data side of things there is some work I can do (hopefully) with data preparation and cleaning that will make things more efficient in terms of getting a ‘first look’ at client data. I don’t want to walk before I can run though, so am just spending these first few weeks getting an understanding of where data analysis fits into the work Ebit does.
What was your first ever job?
My first ever job was a lifeguard. I did it for 7 years from when I was in school until after I graduated – it was great!
If you were an Olympic athlete, which sport would you compete in? Why?
I would love to do the canoe slalom. There is no evidence base to suggest I’d be any good at it, I just think it looks good fun.
When you are not at work what do you enjoy doing?
When I am not at work I like to try and be outside; running/walking, cycling, paddleboarding & playing golf with friends. I also play the guitar, try and read lots of books and bake bread.
Do you have a favourite book / podcast? Why is it your favourite?
My favourite book would change each time you ask me. However, anything written by the late John le Carre gets my vote. Notably The Spy Who Came in from the Cold and The Karla Trilogy. I love his books because they’re so descriptive and intricate. Highly recommend!
