BACKGROUND
This UK-based retailer specialising in kitchenware, home, and garden products has evolved from a niche plastics supplier into a multi-channel retail brand with over 60 stores, 1,000 employees, and a strong e-commerce presence.

the challenge
EBIT has been actively supporting the client for several years, enabling them to focus on their core business. More recently, the team was asked to review challenges in cardboard procurement, courier services, and packaging consumables to identify opportunities for savings and better cost control.
SOLUTION
To address these challenges, EBIT worked closely with the client’s procurement and operations teams to strengthen supplier relationships, improve cost visibility, and secure long-term value across key spend areas.
- Cardboard: Renegotiated rates with the incumbent supplier and formalised a new contract to secure future pricing, delivering a 9.4% saving (£134k) on annual spend and improving cost control in packaging operations
- Couriers: Conducted a benchmarking exercise using EBIT’s proprietary data, renegotiated rates with the incumbent provider, and implemented a new contract under more favourable terms. The change achieved £334k in Year 1 savings and improved service reliability through a single-supplier model
- Packaging Consumables: Renegotiated rates with existing suppliers and implemented new contracts to secure future pricing. The rationalisation and standardisation initiative achieved £139k in savings while reducing supplier and product complexity
