Mini Case Study: Luxury Retail Client
In late May, EBIT started on a value-add project with one of our long standing Luxury Retail clients. Without any segmentation policies or frameworks in place, (much less elements like RACIs to determine which stakeholders or business units are responsible for which stages of SRM), EBIT is building out a comprehensive plan to bring segmentation up to industry standards and capture cost savings.
So far, EBIT found that majority of luxury retailers segment suppliers as a means to legitimise and bolster their brand image. Many luxury brands – including LVHM, Burberrry, and Kering – position suppliers as strategic partners rather than vendors, focusing on:
- Quality and craftmanship
- Innovation and new materials
- Supply resilience and lead times
- Traceability and sustainability
Through structured evaluation, collaboration, and continuous improvement, segmentation helps luxury brands protect and enhance their brand equity.
With a greater understanding of where our client sits in their sector, EBIT is helping them mature their SRM function to unlock brand value and savings. Given that companies with strong ecosystem partnerships are 1.7-2x more likely to outperform peers in revenue growth, we are excited to sophisticate our client’s segmentation capabilities and unlock affiliated ROIs such as decreased costs, improved delivery times, and fewer supply chain disruptions.
By embedding ethical sourcing and sustainability into procurement strategy, the organisation strengthened supplier governance, reduced commercial risk and created a framework for long-term value creation. Rather than treating sustainability as a compliance exercise, it became part of the decision-making process, helping the business improve resilience, support stakeholder expectations and make more informed procurement decisions across the supplier base.
